Bushman
Kennels 2007
Despite
a rocky start due to Judy’s health issues, 2007 still turned out to be a
really good year for Bushman.
We
had some great wins in the show ring and we had some wonderful weekends spent
with some fabulous friends.
We
gained the prestigious Gold Partnership from Pedigree and lost only one Best of
Breed for the entire year.
Not
bad considering we attended around 60 shows for the year.
We won Best of Breed at Both Royal shows we attended and we had 5 dogs
finish in the top 10 of the well supported dogzonline competition.
We had No 1 & No 2 top Flat Coats in the Country and No 1 & No 2
Puppy. We are very grateful to our friends and family who help see us through a
tough year, thanks so much for your support!
We couldn’t have done it without you!
One
of our highlights as a team in 2007 was winning 1st Place in the
Breeders team at Victorian Women’s Championship Show. Needless to say we are very proud of our team of Bushman Flat
Coats and we are heading into 2008 filled with optimism and enthusiasm

No 1 Flat Coated Retriever in Australia (dogzonline point
score 2007)
2007
was a big year for Disco. He
finished his title in March and then had a fairly consistent year in the ring,
battling against one of our top dogs, ‘Captain’.
He had his share of wins, with the highlight of his year being a Best In
Show win in October 2007, one day before his 2nd birthday, making him
the youngest Flat Coated Retriever to ever win an All Breeds Best in Show in
Australia. Disco was also reserve
CC against strong Competition at Adelaide Royal Show
Disco produced his first litter to our bitch Ch Bushman Be So Lucky and a son, Bushman Playing To Win had a very successful start to his show career. Disco finished the year with around 300 challenge points, well on his way to gaining his Grand Champion title.

Captain
continued on his winning ways, winning a Best in Group, runner up in group,
multiple class in group and finishing the year with a class in show.
Captain won more challenge points than any other Flat Coated Retriever in
Australia for 2007. He consistently dominated the breed in the show ring and was
also Jazmyn’s main Junior Handlers dog.
He
was part of her team when she placed 3rd in the Senior Handlers Class
at Melbourne Royal.

Teddy
had a brilliant year as a puppy with many group wins and even cracked a
challenge he won No 1 puppy by a mile, but unfortunately wasn’t all that
thrilled about being a show dog, so in September, went to live with his new
family, the Desmets and has settled in and become an important member of their
family!

DJ
was our big hope of the year, out of our
top winning bitch Ch Bushman Be So Lucky by Ch Explicit No Trouble At All (imp
Swed) . He did more puppy group
winning than any other Flat Coat puppy in Australia in 2007 but unfortunately in
December his mouth went and so he had to be retired from the show ring….
The joys of breeding show dogs!
DJ has gone to live with Gillian Tucker and her daughters and is loving being their pet.

Mystery
was shown sparingly in 2007, but still had some success.
She won Best of Breed at Melbourne Royal and had some fun a the few shows
we showed her at. Emily Marshall
had fun with Mystery winning several handlers heats and an Aust Bred in Group
award!

Bushman Be So Lucky
Kylie
hit the show ring in July after recovering from her April litter and had a great
win at Adelaide Royal Show, where we faced the most competition we had for the
year. She won Best of Breed and
then beautifully handled by Rebecca Bush, was pulled out in the final cut for
best in group. Kylie finished the
year with over 200 points to her credit and we look forward to seeing how she
continues in 2008.
