Bushman had another fantastic year in 2006 with our kennel finishing with top honors in the show ring and also achieving great things at retrieving trials.
During the year we finished two grand champions, a champion and a Restricted Retrieving Dog title.
Our dogs finished well in the Dogzonline competition with 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings.
Gr Ch Bushman Crash And Burn - Crash had a great year, winning Best in Groups, runner up in groups and
Class in groups. He was also awarded Best of breed at Canberra Royal, dog Challenge at Adelaide Royal and Dog Challenge at the Gundog Championship show. At the end of the year he was starting to show signs of being bored in the show ring and so has retired to be an ‘only dog’ with a lovely family where he will spend his retirement years.
Before leaving our kennel he sired a litter to Ch Bushman Up And Flying and we now have a dog puppy, Bushman Sparks Will Fly training for the show ring and bitch puppy in training for Retrieving Trials. Crash finished 3rd in the Dogzonline Competition.
Gr Ch Bushman Bring It On - Captain was definitely a star this year, never letting the team down, always showing like the enthusiastic outgoing dog he is. The highlight of his year was winning Best in Show at the Canberra Gundog Show in February. He was also awarded Dog CC at Melbourne Royal, The Flat Coated Retriever Champ show and won several runner up in group and class in group awards. Captain completed his grand champion title in November, winning a best of breed at Spring Fair under an international judge. Captain also helped Jazmyn do very well in junior handlers this year, with their best win being 1st in Senior handlers at Melbourne Royal Show. We look forward to Captain continuing on his winning ways into 2007. Captain finished 2nd in the Dogzonline Competition.
Gr Ch Bushman Hit Or Miss - Jazmyn always said Mystery would ‘hit her straps’ after she had a litter!
2006 was certainly a wonderful year for Mystery! She finished the top Flat Coated Retriever in Australia - Dogzonline Competition and won just about everything there was to win! She was Best of Breed at Adelaide Royal, Best of Breed at Melbourne and won 4th in Group - a first for the breed at Melbourne Royal, she won multi best in group awards, a runner up to best in show (all breeds metropolitan) and Best of Breed at Vic Gundog, Runner up to Best in Show at the Flat Coated Retriever Championship Show and finished her Grand Champion title in May. We are so proud of what Jazmyn and Mystery have achieved this year, they worked hard together and deserve all the success they enjoyed!
Mystery will have a break over summer of 2007 and will be mated to our import Explicit No Trouble At All (imp Sweden) towards the end of 2007.
Ch Bushman Up And Flying - Reba continued to give her kennel mates a run for their money during the first half of 2006, she has many class in group awards to her credit. In September, Reba delivered five healthy puppies and has left us with a dog and bitch who will be campaigned in the show and retrieving areas respectively. Once Reba gets her figure and some coat back…. She will hit the show ring again in 2007!
Gr Ch Bushman Burning Desire - Cinder gave us a bit of a scare in April 2006, she had a lump the size of a tennis ball on her neck and when we left her with our vet and had to head to Sydney for the Royal show, we didn’t know if we would ever see her again. Thanks to our wonderful vet, Ros Fley, she had the lump (we think a skin infection) removed and has made a full recovery. Cinder won many Veterans Sweepstakes in 2006 and was Best Veteran 10 and over at the Flat Coat show.
On 31st October, Cinder turned 11 years old. When people come to visit, no one can believe it, she certainly doesn’t act her age! Cinder is fully retired now and just potters around at home, but seems to enjoy the weekends away with the other dogs, there is no way we could leave her at home! ,br>
Gr Ch Bushman Talk About Lucky - Luck was only lightly shown this year, but still managed to achieve quite a lot.
She was Bitch CC at Canberra Royal, Res bitch cc and runner up to best of breed at Adelaide and Melbourne Royals,
Best Aust Bred in Show at the Flat Coated Retriever Show.
She was Best of Breed at Sunbury Canine Association Champ show where there was an entry of 11 Flat Coats. The judge Mr J Thirwell (UK) pulled her out in the final cut from a gundog entry of around 500 and then awarded her Best Australian Bred in Group. This was Luck’s final show, what a lovely way to retire. She has now gone to live with a lovely couple as their ‘only dog’ and has a life of luxury!
Ch Bushman Be So Lucky - Kylie was the surprise package of the year! After living with Pete for the first year or so of her life, she came back to Jazmyn and I to be a show dog. We knew she was good, but were thrilled to find out that many of the judges she was shown under thought the same. At the age of just 18 months, Kylie hit the show ring at the beginning of October and had finished her title by the 18th November! During that time she won many class in group awards and Best in Show at the Flat Coated Retriever Open Show and Best in Show at the Flat Coated Retriever Championship Show! She followed that win up with a Best of Breed with under an international judge. We are very excited to have this beautiful bitch in our kennel and look forward to her making her mark in the breed in 2007!
Explicit No Trouble At All (Imp Swed) - What an amazing year it has been for Disco! We are so grateful to Mathilda Luckner for sending this dog to us. Not only has he had an amazing start to his show career, but he has the most wonderful temperament, he makes dog and human friends wherever he goes. He arrived into our kennel mid March and has not looked back since then! He has set a breed record, winning 28 class in group awards! More than any Flat Coated Retriever puppy in breed history in Australia! He was also Reserve Dog CC at Melbourne and Adelaide Royals, Junior in show at the Flat Coated Retriever Open and Championship Shows and finished the year with 88 challenge points! He won two runner up to Best in Group awards and several class in shows.
Bushman Sparks Will Fly - Teddy started his show career at the last few shows for 2006. This lovely puppy strutted around the ring like a true professional and we were delighted at his Baby Puppy in Group award at the last show for 2006! We look forward to enjoying his show career in 2007! Maybe he will be the one to beat Disco’s record!
